Welding of stainless
steel produces a discoloration of the surface that must be removed to
restore the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel and to improve
its appearance.
The patented SURFOX
Cleaning System for stainless steel offers outstanding time savings in
restoring a bright finish to welded stainless steel. Surface
discoloration (bluing) from TIG welding and spot welds is removed
instantly and the original mill finish is restored, requiring no further
treatment.
The SURFOX Cleaning
System is a revolutionary alternative to passivation with pickling paste
(a slow process using very aggressive and hazardous acids) or abrasives
(slower and the original finish is difficult to match).
Here's how it works:
1. Surfox-T electrolyte solution
is delivered to the cleaning tip in measured pump strokes.
2. The special cleaning pad is
soaked by the electrolyte.
3. Electric current activates
the electrolyte and dissolves the discoloration of the stainless steel
(electrochemical deoxidizing).
4. Multi-function
push-button switches in the hand piece turn the unit on and off and
control the delivery of the electrolyte solution to the tip.
5. Built-in vapor
suction evacuates fumes. (Surfox-200 Only)
