Company History

Houston Tool & Hoist Co., Inc. was founded in 1971, in Houston, Texas, by a single individual to market manual and electrical hoisting products and a limited variety of air tools to the small industrial users and contractors.  In 1976, the Company became a full line Ingersoll Rand power tool and material handling distributor.  This expanded the potential market to all types of air tool users with a world leading air tool supplier who provided a full latitude of air tools and local support in developing a marketing role for Houston Tool & Hoist Co.

In the early 1980's a need was seen to pursue a deeper role in the market place by becoming a solution provider as well as a power tool, hoist and hand tool distributor.

The addition of the 3M Scotchbrite line of three-dimensional abrasives enabled the company to sell not only product to the end user, but in many cases solutions to problems as well.  A short time later, the Coated Abrasive line of 3M was added to our bag of problem solvers.  In the pursuing years, additional air tool lines such as Dynabrade, Cooper and Trumpf have been added to our air and electric tool repertoire.  Other additions include such products as air hoists, cutting tools, stroke sanders, special buffing and polishing items, polishing compounds, large capacity nibblers and shears and a specialty line of air tools to remove lead based paints.

In 1990, Houston Tool & Hoist opened it's first branch operation in San Antonio, Texas.  The office was established to serve the San Antonio - Austin market place.  Product inventory is maintained both in the San Antonio and Houston warehouses to service our customer base in this branch.  The resident branch manager follows the same philosophy of service to our customer.

Typically, we supply and service the fabricator, assembly and metal conditioning marketplace.  In addition to servicing the major market areas in South Texas, Houston Tool & Hoist Co. has sold product to users and resellers throughout the world.  Customers in Europe, South and Central America, Canada and Indonesia have all been serviced and supplied with product.

In 1997, Houston Tool & Hoist Co. began supplying various government agencies.  Products have ranged from hoisting equipment, power tools, special cutting products and in several cases, custom designed/built products to meet a specific need as outlined by several government agencies.

In June 2003, we installed a more reliable and efficient software system so that we could serve you better.  Our two offices are tied together to share selling, buying and inventory information to best assist our office and customer base.

Houston Tool & Hoist Co., Inc. was established to serve, and serve it has.  Now and on into the future, serving the needs of our customer base remains our primary goal.
